You may have heard a lot about the benefits of alkaline water ionization, but do you know what is actually is? In essence, this liquid is water that is rich in mineral ions. As a normal tap supply gains or loses its electrons, the minerals within it become ionized. When a liquid is referred to as deionized, that means it does not contain any minerals. What is created in a water ionizer?
When your mains supply enters the ionizer, a water electrolysis process begins to take place. The two types of ion in basic H20 are those from bicarbonate ions and those from minerals, such as potassium, calcium and magnesium. Bicarbonate is just carbon dioxide which is dissolved and it is created when CO2 in the atmosphere is soaked into water. It provides a negative electromagnetic charge, while a positive electromagnetic charge is derived from the mineral ions.
A home water ionizer separates the minerals with a positive charge from the bicarbonate, which is negatively charged, using electromagnetism to get the job done. Inside each unit is a set of charged plates which function in the same ways as magnets, drawing in the ions with an opposite charge to their own. On their way, ions are sifted through a membrane which works in two ways. Primarily it traps unwanted elements, but it also allows the ions to pass, and it is this which creates two different liquids, one is acidic and one is alkaline ionized water.
